When is the best time to dive in Anilao?
Anilao is definitely a great dive community year-round, especially for underwater photography. Other than the relatively rare typhoon, little gets in the way of a great adventure. The Anilao area is a wide peninsula with alternate transportation routes to and from the mainland of Luzon. Even when the weather is not ideal, we can find tranquility for scuba.
The summer months of March to April (when Filipino schools are on recess) are excellent for scuba diving. However, December and January are also high peak season with water temp dipping down to as low as 23 degrees centigrade. Ironically, the monsoon season July to October often has the best underwater visibility due to the constant exchange of water that clears suspended particles, jellyfish, and plankton.
Anilao Dive Sites
Anilao dive sites are well known for underwater macro photography because it can guarantee a lot of macro stuff.
Anilao is one of the best destinations around the world when it comes to underwater macro photography. There are a couple of muck dive sites that are unique compared to other places. There are also outstanding reefs, drop-offs, and slopes that are excellent for wide-angle underwater photography.
